Tokyo Humanities Project (various/online)

Online portal to find Tokyo humanities events, very international resident focused, regular free humanities café event

Open for the regular Tokyo Humanities Café in Shimokitazawa (Setagaya-ku), check the website for the next event / facebook / twitter

A new international resident focused (and internationally led) group helping to promote and expand international Kanto residents’ interaction with humanities events, talks and lectures. The group helps to connect them to the Japanese institutions and people involved. This mainly takes the form of an online portal to find events, usually free, at university campuses and other locations. They could be lectures, film screenings, workshops, or another form. Often in English. The online portal also features helpful resources for people wanting to study in Kanto and a comprehensive link collection of academic societies and more. The website is very active so I suggest you check it out to see all the current opportunities.

Physically, the Project will start to take the form (from June 2017) of a regular Tokyo Humanities Café held in Shimokitazawa (Setagaya-ku). Various speakers are invited to give a short talk on a subject they are connected with, made for a general audience. They may be artists or academics. This casual, free event in English is a great chance for foreign residents interested in the humanities to connect with others in Kanto or simply enjoy an interesting and different kind of evening. Please check the website for more info about the next café and its speakers.
